Reset Password in HostGator

cPanel

You can reset your cPanel password through the following steps:

Request a New Password through your HostGator Customer Portal

Steps:

  1. Log in to your Billing Portal.
  2. At the top of the page, choose the
  3. Select Random Password from the actions list next to the package you want to edit.
  4. Use the password generator or enter and confirm a password, then click the Change Password.

After resetting your password, you will receive a notification that your password has been successfully changed. Furthermore, you will also receive an email containing your new password. By doing this, you will now be able to log into cPanel with your new password.

Change an Existing Password in cPanel

Steps:

  1. Log in to cPanel
  2. Click the Change Password (Password & Security in Paper Lantern theme).
  3. Provide your old password in the Old Password.
  4. Provide your new password in the New Password. Your password should contain uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and non-numeric symbols.
  5. Provide the password once again in the New Password box for verification purposes.
  6. Check the box for “Synchronize MySQL password” if the option is available.

Take note that it will synchronize your password in order for you to be able to login to phpMyAdmin via cPanel. This option is not applicable to all servers.

WHM

There are two ways in resetting your WHM password, these are:

Resetting WHM Password for Resellers.

To reset your WHM password for resellers, you can choose either you do it from cPanel directly or the List Accounts panel in WHM.

Reset Root Password for VPS and Dedicated Servers

Steps:

  1. Login to your WHM account.
  2. On the home screen, click the Server Configuration.
  3. Click Root Password from the Server Configuration.
  4. Enter your desired new password in the New Password.
  5. Retype your new password in the Confirm New Password.
  6. Confirm your changes by clicking the Change Password.

Billing

Steps:

  1. Copy and paste this link in your address bar: https://portal.hostgator.com.
  2. When you are already directed to the site, click the Forgot Your Password.
  3. Give the email address which is associated with your billing account.
  4. Follow the instructions on how to reset the billing password in the email that you receive.

Note: If you do not get an email with a new password, please contact HostGator via phone or live chat.

Parallels SiteBuilder

For the original user name and password, check your ticket. When the credentials listed do not work, submit a ticket to our billing department to request the correct login info.

Email

Steps:

  1. Log in to cPanel.
  2. Click the Email Accounts icon in the Mail Section.
  3. Click Change Password next to the account you want to change in the table which lists all email accounts.

Note: You do not need the old password to set a new one.

  2. Go to Account Functions.

Database

Steps:

  1. Log in to cPanel.

Website Admin

You can reset the password from cPanel by accessing the installation via QuickInstall if the software was installed via QuickInstall. However, HostGator may not be able to reset your website admin password if the software was manually installed due to custom configuration.

To reset the WordPress password, you have 3 choices to choose from:

Use the Lost Password Link on the login screen.

Steps:

  1. Go to your login screen at http:// (insert your actual domain and installation location here).com/wp-login.php.
  2. Click Lost Your Password under the login form.
  3. Type the email address or username of the account you are trying to log into.
  4. In order to have the password sent to your email address, click Get New Password.

QuickInstall Password Reset

Steps:

  1. Log in to cPanel.
  2. Click on QuickInstall under Software/Services.
  3. Click My Installs at the top of the page.
  4. Select the installation you want to modify.
  5. Click Reset Password.
  6. Choose the username you want to change the password from the dropdown box and enter a new desired password.
  7. To change the password for the selected user, click the Reset Password.

Manual Password Reset

Steps:

  1. Log in to cPanel.
  2. Click phpMy Admin under
  3. From the left panel list, click the WordPress Database (This will be the name, wrdp#, if you installed this through QuickInstall).
